Bail Bondsman Shot in Louisiana

The New Orleans Police Department has announced that a bondsman from New Orleans has been shot multiple times while attempting to arrest a subject.

Shortly before 2:00 this afternoon a bail bondsman was in the 6600 block of Franklin Avenue, near the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Leon C. Simon Dr. to attempt to take a person into custody based on a failure to appear.

The unidentified shooter was a blue-green Chevrolet Silverado and left the scene immediately after the shooting.


UPDATE: 8:15 pm cst – The agent that was shot is expected to survive his injuries.


Update 10:24 pm cst –

Sometime around 9:00 pm Malik London, the suspected shooter of Vincent Vinet, during an bail recovery attempt has turned himself into authorities.

Wayne Lozier, Vincent Vinet, and Steven Washington were attempting to arrest London on an outstanding failure to appear issue regarding a previous domestic violence charge. During the incident London allegedly opened fire on the parties involved striking Vinet numerous times. Lozier did return fire with a rifle and emptied his magazine into the direction of the suspect vehicle.

Vinet was transported to the nearest hospital where he is currently being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
